Program

This course will introduce the basic ideas behind the holographic correspondence highlighting the two main perspectives on the subject: top down and bottom up. The program includes:

- the holographic principle
- conformal field theories
- Anti de Sitter space
- symmetries and isometries
- the AdS/CFT correspondence
- the holographic dictionary
- the top down approach: string theory in AdS5xS5 and N=4 Super Yang Mills theory.
- the bottom up approach: gravity in AdS and CFT at the boundary.
- brief outline of some applications: entanglement entropy, finite temperature, integrability.
